I decided to tackle 1995 in this episode.  The idea with the "And the Year Was..." segments is to just give a quick rundown and overview of all the games released in a specific year, but I always want to dig deeper.  I read a lot about each game, and then I usually start wanting to OWN one of these games!  I would love to bring home a Theatre of Magic someday.  That one definitely does it for me.  I hope you enjoy a little trip down memory lane to the heyday of the DMD era!

Great idea to compare the games released same year!.
the arms on Frankenstein (segas MSfrankenstein) will hold your locked balls, and toss them out on the playfield when multiball starts.
As you said its very seldom they work properly.

Keep the podcasts coming!

Hey Nate,

I sympathize with you on your post purchase feelings towards JD. My first pin was a T2 back in 2006. I didn't want to spend anymore than a grand and after doing a bunch of research I found it to be a great choice for the price. It was working when I bought it but, within a month, I started having reset issues. I fixed the problem, which taught me a lot about board repair. Nonetheless, it didn't take long before I began losing interest in the table. It was probably the theme, which started to bore me. I ended up selling it about a year later.

Now, I've been in and out of pinball over the last 13 or so years and I've only owned three in that time. Each one a little worse off than the last at purchase. My second was a Sorcerer which needed some minor board work plus the full shop job. I really liked that pin too but sold it about two years later.

This past May I bought a dead Firepower. Wouldn't boot and, hell, it didn't have legs. Got a decent deal on it. Spent hours and hours bulletproofing and fixing the boards which, fortunately, had never been touched. No battery corrosion either, which was a Godsend. Anyway, after many more hours of touch up painting, cleaning and waxing I LED'd it out with Cointakers and now I got a really nice Firepower which is a brutal game. Point is, it's a simple game and I love it much more than T2. Maybe it's the amount of work I put into my Firepower. Maybe it's just that I found Arnold annoying after a while. Needless to say I'm keeping my Firepower for a lot longer than I did the T2.

Now the only problem is that every time I play it, Firepower gets a little dirtier. But that's just crazy talk? Right?
